Very clean well run hotel.
The half 10 check out though we did get to stay till one due to late flight..
staff welcoming and helpful, hotel very clean and pleasant. good breakfast
the bar was very quiet but this could have been the time of the year that we stayed. could do with a bit of light music.
very friendly staff with a good breakfast
the decor in the rooms is very old fashioned and in relation to the price is imbalanced.
The staff were most helpful and friendly and looked after us very well. The breakfast buffet was very good.
Drinks in the bar were somewhat expensive. Also the restaurant was not open for dinner because of the early month of our visit which is why I marked the facilities as only fair.
I thought all the staff were wonderfully friendly. I loved the resident pussy cat, the pool view from our room. But best of all, I loved the food in the restaurant. Two nights in a row we enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal and the lasagne (including the vegetarian version) was exceptionally good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! It is an oasis of calm in what is otherwise a vibrant part of Alghero.
The only negative experience was getting stung by a huge flying creature in the garden ... I have no genuine complaints.
Clean hotel and well kept garden. Nice poolside. Good breakfast.
We had problems with the airconditioning. The street side of the hotel is quite noisy. The walk to the old city was a just a bit too long.
The hotel and its staff were efficient, friendly, helpful and well organised. The rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable. It made for a very happy holiday, thank you.
Very nice garden and pool facilities. The included breakfast variety was rich and it was very good (Italian ham, lots of fruit, fruit-cake(s), and of course serials, youghurt, te, coffie, scoones and good bread). Actually after a few days we found out what very delicious dinners that was served - price arround 18EUR also including antipasti. We har a very delicious cheese baked hellebout for that price and ½ a lobster per person for 30EUR including antipasti and dessert. Very good. 15 min walk to the old town and 15 min walk to best beach in Alghero town so the hotel is well located.
A bit noicy from the hallway unless you close inner door to sleeping room. There were some insekts (moskitos or bugs) due to the rich palm garden we think.
Staff very friendly, hotel spotless, food excellent
Breakfast finished too early
A very nice family run hotel. Rooms were comfortable. Staff were excellent - reception staff were very helpful and knowledeable, Breakfast staff were a delight. The pool and surroundings were perfect. The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels and sheets were supplied every day . Breakfast was generous and Food was first class. The pool was delightful and there was no charge for the sunbeds.
You have to put everything on your room tab - there is no facilities to pay cash. I like to pay as I go. It has a bar but no customers because of lack of athmosphere and no options for non residents to use the facilities. I did not like the no cancellation policy.
What we liked about La Playa was the friendliness of staff (and other guests) that smaller hotels seem so good at. We loved the gardens --- very pretty and well cared for. The evening meals were wonderful --- it was lovely to sit out amongst the plants looking over the pool and the meals and wine were great value for money. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and expert at serving fish! The pool was good to cool off in and a decent size for a relatively small hotel. And there was a library, a bonus to an avid reader!!
Initially the room seemed a bit basic but it grew on us! A small fridge would have been wonderful and the bathroom was a bit narrow. The towels were typically Italian (quite thin) --- missed fluffy towels but they did the job!
The people who own/run the hotel appeared to run a very tight ship. Everything was immaculately clean and our room was spacious - slightly dated but in a very acceptable way. Splendid food. We found the experience charming. Public areas extremely pleasant and garden and pool an oasis. Eating by the pool in the evening was delightful with food far exceeding 3* expectations. Breakfast was better than the 4*s we had been in prior to arriving here. Although, our experience of breakfast at hotels in Italy in general is always somewhat disappointing, especially the coffee.
We had spent previous 5 nights in quite plush 4* hotels on Costa Smerelda, so knew that this being only a 3* in middle of town apartments, we might find it lacking. However the only downside was that we had a room at the back of the hotel with balcony overlooking road and scruffy apartment block on other side. We were told hotel was full so unable to move room. It was disappointing as had we been on the pool side of the hotel it would have been great. Despite this, we just couldn't help warming to the charm of the place. The staff worked so hard and were so attentive to detail that we didn't feel too hard done by as we were only there 2 nights. Had intended to walk into old town to eat both evenings but changed our minds for the 1st night and were impressed enough that we decided to eat there again on our second evening.
I had a super holiday at the Hotel La Playa and would recommend it to anyone. Perfectly positioned near to the beach with a very pleasant walk along the promenade to the old town of Alghero with shops and great restaurants along the way. The hotel staff were fantastic and extremely curteous and helpful. Good sized room, extremely clean and a lovely view over the pool. The pool-side restaurant was superb and the setting with beautiful flowers and palm trees was gorgeous. A fantastic spread for breakfast and all food eaten at the hotel was absolutely superb. Nothing not to like! One tip, ask for a room with a pool view otherwise you may get one that overlooks the road, although its not too busy.
Very pleasant hotel; staff friendly & helpful, rooms very clean, good food, beautiful gardens and poolside area with decent sun loungers with a very nifty adjustable shade for your head/face so perfect for reading. Quiet location, just a 20-minute stroll to the old town along the beachfront. Great place to chill out for a week.
Be nice if breakfast was served slightly later than 9.30am. Would also be a bonus if the outside bar was open all afternoon rather than closing at 2.30pm when lunch service ends & a waiter service for poolside for drinks - just so you can really indulge your lazy holiday tendencies! (There is an inside bar open all day so its really not a problem)
The gardens and pool are gorgeous - it is so peaceful. The food was lovely and the outdoor dining area is very beautiful in the evenings. The hotel is meticulously run and is very clean. The staff were delightful and paid lots of attention to my 24 month old daughter which she loved! Our room was bright, spacious and airy and had a lovely pool view. The hotel is 100m from a lovely stretch of beach and it is about 20 mins walk into the old town.We were delighted with our stay and definitely want to return next year if we can!
